George Gearing – Vice Chair

George proudly serves as the Vice Chair of Bury Town Community F.C. and committee member responsible for the Women’s and Adult Disability Team development.

George has been a part of the football club, first as an assistant coach and now team manager for the Women’s team and U16 Boys Lions team, since his daughter joined to play for the club in the 2020-21 season.

Since that time, both of his children have grown to love football, established great friendships, built resilience and have learnt so much about being part of a team. George is a firm believer in every child having the opportunity to participate in football, regardless of the social barriers and that we, as a football club have an important role to play in the community.

In his professional life, George is a local government Commissioning Manager. This involves leadership of programmes to support some of the most disadvantaged families in society; heading up successful projects and programmes in Covid recovery, support with the cost-of-living crisis and community engagement.

George feels privileged to be working within such a fantastic community club, with incredible coaches and volunteers, who work hard to create a happy and safe environment for children to learn their football skills.

Eleanor Ling – Community Sponsorship and Fundraising Coordinator

At just six years old, Eleanor was pitch-side most weekends at Portman Road, with an autograph book waiting to see the Ipswich Town players before the match. Her first game was Town vs QPR – and over 20 years later, that passion for football remains the same.

Today, she proudly supports Bury Town Community F.C by building meaningful partnerships and securing vital funding that helps our players, teams, and the wider club to thrive. Eleanor joined the club in January 2024, bringing her design and communications experience to grassroots football with the aim to connect us with the right people and opportunities, and to create a sustainable and secure future for the club as a charity.

Eleanor’s background is in creative design, luxury fashion, and communications, working for companies like Burberry and Christian Dior. She later took her artistic skill set into education, where her passion for football came through whilst encouraging participation and the set up of matches and skills sessions across all ages throughout the school.

When not working, Eleanor is learning to ski, abseiling from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, or watching motorsport. In 2024, she learned to skydive, Eleanor tells us is the best experience by far!

You might not know… Eleanor designed the Kick It Out mascot for Ipswich Town F.C.

Liam – Disciplinary Officer and Kit & Equipment Coordinator

Liam has been involved with the club since September 2022 when he started coaching his son’s team, and has been a committee member since May 2023.

In his spare time, Liam enjoys watching sports such as football, Formula 1, boxing and darts. He enjoys running and regularly signs up for organised half marathons.

Liam likes giving back to the community and gets a real feel of achievement seeing players develop and enjoy themselves at the club and, in particular, the team he coaches.

Liam is always happy to help and, if you have any queries regarding Discipline, Kit & Equipment or anything else feel free to get in touch!

James – Pitch & Facilities and Head of Operations
James has been involved with Bury Town since 2018 when he completed his FA level 1 to be the coach for his son’s U7s team. He’s about to start his 9th season as coach of the same team at U15s.

James joined the Bury Town Community F.C. Committee last year as we could see the great job the committee were doing with the youth section and felt he could give more time to assist. He has recently taken responsibility for match/training venue allocation and Head of Operations duties.

James is an avid follower of the Bury Town F.C. first team going to all home and several away games.

Dan – Media Officer
Joining the club in summer 2023 as Media Officer, Dan keeps Bury Town Community F.C.’s digital spaces updated with the latest news, information, and content.

The areas Dan looks after include our social media, emails, and even this website!

Dan’s goals are to support trustees and volunteers in ensuring players and parents are informed about the latest developments throughout the year, and reaching new audiences to help the club grow.

Outside of football, Dan works in marketing and has experience in live events, technology, and wholesale distribution.
